getting to Nosara
5 11 2004Left Liberia after having breakfast at our pizza place and retrieving Margita from the parking courtyard. I was driving for a change, at Meghan’s request. We took a detour to check out playa Conchal, which required a bit of 4WD. Beach was pretty but no conch shells, as we had expected. Had lunch in Nicoya, we had a very helpful waitress and great food. Then we went to the outdoor market across the street, we bought some dog biscuits (sarcasm - I think they were advertised as “cookies” or “snacks”) and a CD of traditional Nicaraguan music, which we spun immediately. Tons of pineapples and bananas in the market. Stopped at a real estate office in Samara to get the spin on the area (not like we were there to buy or anything). Onward through lakes of mud (4 wheelers and dirt bikes are the way to travel down here) to Nosara, where we stopped to make reservations for surf lessons with Pio, then explored a bit, then started to look for a room. Thought we had found one, but it was too hot, so we went to Hotel Cafe de Paris where we got a posh place for $45/night. Ate there, had mahi for $6 and crashed.
